DAY 19 - AERIAL HOOP

My arms feel like spaghetti today. I hardly had any upper body strength for this aerial hoop class I took last night.

We started off by doing conditioning. Most of the exercises consisted of pull-ups or something similar. I was cracking up the whole time from my inability to do even one pull-up. Luckily, I still managed to do some of the non-pulling movements.

In addition to pulling my own body weight, I had to spin around while holding onto the hoop. No lie, I had motion sickness after class and fought hard not to vomit. LOL! At one point during class, someone called out to me:

FELLOW CLASSMATE: "Is that lady okay?? MISS, ARE YOU OKAY? ARE YOU DIZZY?"

... Haha so this is how 30 feels...

Anyway, we learned two moves:

Coffin

Gazelle

Here's Coffin:

And here's Gazelle:

I spoke with one of the girls who was really good at the hoop.

ME: How long have you been doing this?

HOOP CHICK: I was attending class regularly for two years, but it's been a while since I've done it.

ME: How often would you go to class?

HOOP CHICK: Four times a week. Also we did a lot of conditioning. We were doing at a minimum 10 pull-ups with very good form.

DAMN wuuu...

Here are what I believe the benefits are for training that frequently:

You're probably making the most out of your studio membership because I know for damn sure those monthly fees ain't cheap

It's pretty evident that you will improve as you continue to attend classes.

Much like pole class, the results are measurable...

...and results are also noticeable through bruising lol. My arms are pretty sore today and I bruised on the inside of my elbows, underside of my knees, and tops of my feet. BUT! I do feel pretty motivated to continue on this exercising high.

DAY 19 - Take an aerial hoop class [COMPLETE]

My thoughts? SUPER FUN! It felt like I was a kid again playing on a jungle gym.

Would I do it again? Yes. In fact, I'm looking at other studios closer to my area.

How easy/difficult was it to learn the moves? The actual "tricks" were very easy to learn. However, with the right conditioning, it could definitely look a lot more elegant and refined.

What did I learn? I learned a very similar lesson to the pole class - maintain a workout regimen. I think I've put off building my upper body strength for waaay too long. Time to get into shape (or at least attempt)!
