I've been talking about going to the Sequoia National Park for over a year. Luckily, my college best friend was down to go and offered to drive her car! Thank you a bunch for driving the entire time!!!

We hadn't done a road trip together before (with the exception of drives to and from San Diego to visit her family). There were many firsts during this trip:
Visited the Kern River
She slept in her car in lieu of the traditional tent
Trail of 100 Giants
She camped with one other female (me!)
Our first camping trip together just the two of us

Okay, it was really hot during this trip. It cooled off a bit when we got up into the redwood area (from 99°F to 83°F) and everything became more green. It's amazing to see how drastically the climate within the same park can change: From this...

... to this...

There is so much to explore right in our backyard! Just in California alone you could spend a majority of your life discovering new outdoor adventures just up and down our lovely home state.

Can you spot my friend? She's standing on the tree!

After exploring, we headed back to our campsite. At first, we were going to do a free primitive site. After looking around, it wasn't the best fit for our needs. There was a nicer campsite down the road less than 2 minutes away, so we tried out luck and went there. There had been a rescue in the river (they did a helicopter rescue but he ended up being safe and alive) so we didn't set up camp until after visiting the Trail of 100 Giants.

[Limestone Campground]

Watching the river was mesmerizing. I would suggest you always stay a safe distance from the water. The suggestion by the national park is 25 feet. Whatever it is, just make sure you use good judgment. And wear a life vest when you can!
It was nice catching up with my friend and seeing how we've grown throughout the years. There are many things I credit her for. I don't think I'd be where I am in life had it not been for all her support and always offering to lend a helping hand. I'm really grateful for our friendship and look forward to many more significant life moments to share with her! If you're reading this, THANKS!!! Love ya!

DAY 17 - Camp at Sequoia National Park [COMPLETE]
My thoughts?
The park's motto is "The Land of Many Uses." Although it sounds lame, I can see how it's very applicable. It has a lot to offer, from the river to the trees - it's definitely worth seeing!
Would I do it again?
Yup! Hopefully during spring when everything is more lively and green.
How big are the trees?
REALLY LARGE
What did I learn?
Visit your national parks because they are quite the sight to see.
Always be safe when outdoors, especially near rivers, cliffs, etc.
Always carry cash.
Bring enough water.
Pack proper gear.
Don't be a dick by bringing your dog, littering, and/or smoking at the national parks [rolls eyes].
